Designer Sjoerd Heijsman has unveiled an open asset library called Kitbitz, featuring more than 2,000 hand-drawn illustrations. The collection is released under the permissive CC0 license, allowing anyone to use, modify, and embed the graphics in commercial games, websites, and apps without attribution.

The assets were originally created by a team of illustrators for a 2D world builder. After that project shut down, the graphics were repurposed into a standalone tool for UI/UX designers and developers.

13 Themed Sets and Figma Integration

The catalog is organized into 13 themed categories, covering medieval, space, urban, wildlife, pirate islands, and dungeons. All elements — characters, buildings, plants, furniture, and inventory items — share a consistent visual style and can be easily combined to create game levels and illustrations.

According to Product Hunt, the graphics are available for direct download from the site in vector SVG and raster PNG formats.

For Figma, the author has released an official component library with support for responsive design and color variables, as well as a separate plugin for quickly searching and inserting assets into your layout directly from the editor.

AI Agent Support and Interactive Interface

In addition to the standard catalog, the service now features experimental integration with AI tools based on the MCP (Model Context Protocol). This allows AI assistants to directly access the graphics database to automatically generate web pages and 2D landscapes.

The project’s website also features retro-game-inspired sound design for its interface. All assets are available without paid subscriptions or feature limitations.
