The creators of hit animated series Rick and Morty have revealed a target release window for its upcoming continuation. Season 10 is scheduled to premiere in summer 2027, maintaining an annual release schedule.

Co-creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder announced the timeline during the Deadline Contenders Television panel. Adult Swim will announce the exact premiere date at a later time.

Milestone 100th Episode and New Storylines

Season 10 will mark a landmark moment for the franchise: after Season 9 concludes, the series will stand at 91 episodes, making the upcoming season home to its milestone 100th episode. The creators promise a special, large-scale story for the occasion.

Executive producer Steve Levy revealed that Season 10 will feature a neo-Gothic horror episode in the vein of the popular Season 6 episode Night Family. The team also confirmed the full return of Jessica, with writers crafting a dedicated story arc for her character.

Seasons 11 and 12 Production

The team has moved away from multi-year gaps between releases: Season 8 debuted in May 2025, Season 9 finished airing in July 2026, and production on subsequent installments is running concurrently.

Adult Swim has guaranteed the show will air through at least 2029, having signed an official agreement for Seasons 11 and 12 back in late 2024.

According to Scott Marder, the writers’ room has finished breaking concepts for Season 10 and is actively writing scripts for Season 12. The showrunner emphasized that the team expects to expand the Rick and Morty universe beyond the current contract.
