The official trailer for the unconventional found footage horror film Cat Cam has been released online. The entire narrative is told through the lenses of home surveillance cameras placed around the rooms to monitor a cat named Nag.

The story follows a married couple who, after moving into a new California home, are preparing for a vacation. Worried about their pet, the wife installs seven surveillance cameras throughout the house, including one inside the automatic feeder, and leaves her younger brother Jay to look after the animal.

Soon, the system’s sensors begin detecting inexplicable activity: the automation reports silhouettes of people in empty rooms, objects move on their own, and the cat is the first to react to the supernatural presence.

Filmed Through Pet Camera Lenses

According to Found Footage Horror Movies, the film’s visual concept directly references the classic “Paranormal Activity.” Viewers watch events unfold through static wide-angle security camera lenses, peering into dark corners of rooms in anticipation of movement in the background.

The filmmakers didn’t try to turn the cat into a trained actress: the animal behaves naturally—eating, sleeping, and warily watching empty spaces, which heightens the suspense.

Festival Awards and Release Date

The project was directed by Sarah Werner, with a screenplay by Hilary Helding.

As noted by Scariest Things, the 95-minute film has won seven awards at the specialized horror festivals Panic Fest and Popcorn Frights. The cast includes Cronin Cullen, Giavani, Bry Gallagher, Colleen Evanson, and the cat Nag.

The official digital release of Cat Cam on streaming platforms is set for August 25, 2026.
