Rockstar Games Locks Down GTA 6 Discord Chat Amid New Wave of Leaks

Rockstar Games has set the Grand Theft Auto VI channel on its official Discord server to read-only mode. The restriction on messaging coincided with a new series of alleged gameplay leaks from the group Cyberleek circulating online.

When trying to post a message in the channel, users receive a system notification that they lack permission. The company’s server itself remains operational, with the lock affecting only the section dedicated to discussing the upcoming game.

What the Cyberleek Leaks Show

The stir was sparked by a new video of alleged GTA 6 gameplay featuring basketball mechanics, which specialized outlets had previously detailed. In a high-quality one-minute clip, protagonist Jason explores the area around a waterfront house and shoots a basket, after which the Focus stat in the HUD increases by 2%.

Later, a second clip emerged showing a car crash and a brawl, along with a schematic image purportedly showing the full map of the state of Leonida, including Vice City and surrounding counties. As PC Gamer notes, journalists remain highly skeptical about the map’s authenticity, despite the high quality of the animations in the video clips.

Discord Moderation and the August 27 Showcase

As Kotaku points out, moderators previously enabled a 10-minute slow mode due to spam after launching the official Discord server in early 2025. This marks the first time chat has been disabled entirely in the project’s channel.

The wave of leaks coincides with preparations for the official Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look stream, scheduled for August 27, 2026. The developers have not yet commented on the videos, so the materials remain unconfirmed leaks.
