Full GTA VI Leak or Crypto Scam: Hacker Threatens to Release the Story Campaign Before Launch

A month before the official premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI, the online blackmail campaign around the decade’s biggest release has reached its peak. An anonymous poster using the handle CYBERLEEK, responsible for a string of recent leaks, has issued an open ultimatum to Take-Two Interactive’s leadership. He claims to have obtained a finished working build of the game that lets players complete the entire story campaign from the prologue to the final credits, and has promised to publish the files online before the official launch.

The ultimatum appeared on October 10, 2026, according to Dexerto. The poster invited doubters to name any episode or mission from the game, promising to publish confirming footage.

Yet a financial motive surfaced behind the loud threats right away: the hacker promised to dump the distribution if the market cap of his own crypto meme coin broke the $30 million mark.

Caring About Players as Cover for a Pump

To give his actions a noble look, the hacker added a demand that hits a sore spot for the community. According to him, Rockstar can stop the leak if it issues a public apology and releases GTA VI on real physical discs.

Fans have long been unhappy with the studio’s digital policy: earlier, Rockstar Games officially confirmed that retail boxed editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will contain only paper inserts with a download code and no Blu-ray disc. The attempt to cast himself as a defender of physical copies looks like a convenient cover for whipping up speculative hype around an illiquid crypto token.

Are the Files Real, and Could Anyone Actually Play Them

There is indeed reason to suspect the attacker has access to the studio’s internal materials. In August, CYBERLEEK posted clips in which a character spelled out the hacker’s name on a Vice City wall with bullets, and days ago he published a 25-minute recording with cutscenes, races and nude character models, The Verge reported.

But having fragments of test sessions does not prove the hacker has a stable image of the whole game. There have already been cases of manipulation in this story: Insider Gaming retracted its article about a similar ultimatum in August after the “evidence” provided turned out to be fake.

Even if the source code or a dev build ends up on torrents, ordinary players won’t be able to run it on a consumer PC or a standard console. Developer files are tightly bound to the hardware of specialized devkits (PlayStation 5 DevKit) and protected by cryptographic certificates.

The main real danger of the threat lies elsewhere: if the data leaks, the internet will be flooded with spoilers about the finale, key plot twists and dialogue weeks before release.

The official launch of GTA VI is still set for November 19, 2026, for current-generation consoles. Preloading of the distribution will open on November 12, and Take-Two representatives continue to ignore the online extortionists.
