AMC has released a new trailer for the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The final chapter of Daryl and Carol’s story will arrive in February 2027 on AMC and AMC+, though the network has not yet announced an exact premiere date.

The teaser trailer debuted on October 9 at New York Comic Con. The panel featured Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, showrunner David Zabel and The Walking Dead universe producer Scott M. Gimple.

The clip doubles as a farewell to an entire era: AMC looks back on 15 years of Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, showing footage from the original The Walking Dead alongside new scenes from the final season.

Daryl and Carol’s last journey will run through Spain

The fourth season will consist of eight episodes and continues the characters’ journey across Europe. After the events of the previous chapter, Daryl and Carol are still trying to find their way home, crossing the ruined territories of Spain.

In AMC’s official description, uncertainty about the future forces the characters to rely on each other more and more.

Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride return to their roles. The cast also includes Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbues.

One of the most notable newcomers is Jimmy Smits, known for Dexter, Sons of Anarchy and The West Wing. He plays Captain Alejandro Perkins, a former US Navy officer and doctor who managed to adapt to life after the zombie apocalypse began.

The show’s finale may not be the end for Daryl

AMC announced the end of the spinoff back in summer 2025. At the time, Norman Reedus hinted that his character’s story could continue after the Daryl Dixon finale.

So the fourth season is better seen as the end of the European chapter of Daryl and Carol’s adventures rather than a guaranteed farewell to the franchise’s characters. No new projects featuring them have been officially announced yet.

Ahead of the premiere, AMC is also preparing an easy way to rewatch the entire main story. Starting January 7, 2027, all 11 seasons of the original The Walking Dead will be available on AMC+ for the first time, along with the rest of the universe’s shows.

The final season of Daryl Dixon thus arrives as the franchise is once again being brought together on a single streaming service — and it could mark a turning point for the future of The Walking Dead’s two most recognizable characters.
