Marvel Studios has officially cast Ryan Gosling in the lead role for the superhero film Ghost Rider. The solo project will be directed by Shawn Levy, director of the blockbuster hit Deadpool & Wolverine.
The role marks Gosling’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following years of the actor expressing interest in playing the infernal antihero on a motorcycle.
Marvel’s 2028 Release Schedule and Plans
Marvel has set the film’s release window for 2028. According to Deadline, the most likely premiere date is July 28, 2028—Disney has reserved a theatrical release slot for an untitled Marvel Studios project on that day.
If the July date is confirmed, Ghost Rider will be part of a major 2028 premiere slate for the studio, slotted between the new X-Men film (opening May 5) and Black Panther 3 (December 15).
