Bento released: an open and compact presentation editor that replaces PowerPoint

An open source project appeared in free access Bento A presentation editor created as a lightweight and free alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint. The app weighs everything 560 KB It can operate completely autonomously.

All-in-one architecture and working without the internet

The main feature of Bento is to store all resources within one compact file. It simultaneously contains:

• Slides and graphical elements;
• Built-in fonts and images;
• Animated effects;
• The editor’s code itself.

Thanks to this structure, the program does not require a permanent connection to the network and fully functions offline.

Bento features a basic and advanced set of tools for creating demonstration materials:

• Co-editing: Multiple users can simultaneously edit the presentation in real time, and all changes are saved automatically.
• Toolbox: Integrated export support in PDF format, charting, comment system and speaker mode.
