The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition with updated graphics and cooperative

Aspyr has released a reissue of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition. The game, withdrawn from sale in 2019 due to license expiration, returned to PC and became available for the first time on modern consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

The original action from Snowblind Studios was released in 2011. In the re-release of Legacy Edition, developers tightened textures using neural networks, added support for high resolutions and increased personnel frequency. Official Russian subtitles were integrated into the game, the network cooperative was fully restored and the split screen mode for PC was added for the first time. In addition, in single mode, you can now freely switch between characters during the passage.

Plot and key characters

The game takes place in parallel with the journey of the Brotherhood of the Ring to Mordor. While Frodo carries the One Ring, a trio of heroes travel to the north of Middle-earth to stop the antagonist Agandaur, the Black Númenorian and Sauron’s servant, gathering an army on the ruins of Fornost.

The gameplay is based on the team interaction of three characters with unique skills:

• Eradan: a human tracker specializing in bows, stealth, paired blades and shield combat;
• Andriel: Elven magician, creating protective domes and using martial magic;
• Farin: A gnome voivode relying on heavy melee weapons and powerful crossbows.

The game is already available on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, as well as on consoles. The base price for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition is $19.99, with a temporary starting discount of 10% on all platforms.
