HBO and streaming service HBO Max have released the debut episode of DC Studios’ superhero detective series Lanterns. The show follows Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a series of mysterious crimes.
According to Deadline, the series is crafted in the style of a dark, grounded thriller reminiscent of the first season of True Detective. Set in Nebraska, the plot follows Green Lantern Corps veteran Hal Jordan and recruit John Stewart investigating a brutal murder that uncovers an intergalactic conspiracy.
Cast and Episode Schedule
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre portrays John Stewart as the cosmic guardians.
According to TechRadar, the first season of Lanterns features eight episodes, which will debut weekly on Sundays. The pilot episode has a runtime of 57 minutes.
