The creators of the anime hit SAKAMOTO DAYS have unveiled a new trailer for the second season, which is set to premiere on Netflix in January 2027. The new footage reveals the setup for one of the manga’s most anticipated story arcs — the JCC Infiltration Arc — and showcases new key characters in action, along with a bigger scale of animation for the fight scenes.

The continuation will once again pit the retired legendary hitman Taro Sakamoto against the criminal underworld. To track down the mysterious underground leader known as X (Slur), Sakamoto and his partner Shin decide to infiltrate JCC, an elite Japanese academy that trains professional killers.

Infiltrating JCC and the Secrets of the ORDER Organization

The teaser shows the heroes’ unconventional methods of going undercover: while Shin gathers intel as an ordinary student, Sakamoto himself disguises as his own wife Ao and lands a job at the academy as a trainee teacher.

Meanwhile, the story will also unfold in Kyoto, where elite ORDER fighters — Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi — are sent on a special mission and end up ambushed by an unexpected enemy. Additionally, the second season will begin to explore the shared past of young Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion, and X himself, shedding light on the origins of their conflict.

According to Oricon News, viewers will be introduced to the following new characters:

  • Amane — a gifted top student at the academy with hidden motives against the Killer Association;
  • Satoda — a highly experienced JCC instructor who once trained Sakamoto himself;
  • Yotsumura — a mysterious veteran who was instrumental in founding ORDER.

Director Change and Franchise Status

The adaptation continues to be produced by TMS Entertainment. There’s been a change in the director’s chair: Daisuke Nakajima, who has been involved with the project since the early episodes, is now directing the second season, while first-season director Masaki Watanabe has moved into a supervisor role. Takao Kishimoto remains in charge of series composition, and Yo Moriyama continues as character designer.

The first season of SAKAMOTO DAYS was a major international success, spending 10 weeks in Netflix’s global top 10 non-English series. The anime’s success also boosted sales of Yuto Suzuki’s original manga in Shonen Jump, which has now surpassed 15 million copies in total circulation.
