Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrives October 20 — new trailer reveals story and characters

Studio Trigger, CD Projekt Red, and streaming service Netflix have unveiled a new full trailer for the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. According to the official Cyberpunk website, all 10 episodes of the second season will premiere on October 20.
The sequel won’t be a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story. Instead, the creators are turning the project into an anthology of Night City with a completely new cast of characters, describing it as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.”
A new crew and a fallen mercenary
According to the announcement details from CD Projekt Red, the story will focus on a conflict between several key characters:
- Wick Kingsley: a former legend of Night City known as King. Having lost most of his combat chrome, he’s trying to survive in a city where his best days are long behind him.
- Dee: a netrunner from the Snake Nation nomad clan, hunting down her family’s murderer and accidentally uncovering dangerous corporate secrets.
- Roman Karax: a fan of old cinema, searching for real emotions in the world of braindances.
- Talia Young: a girl with a corporate past who has joined the Maelstrom gang.
Studio Trigger’s development team
Studio Trigger is handling the animation again. The director’s chair goes to Kai Ikarashi (who directed the acclaimed sixth episode of the first season, Girl on Fire), with Ichigo Kanno serving as character designer.
Masahiko Otsuka and showrunner Bartosz Sztybor are back on writing duties. The authors promise to make the narrative tone even darker and more brutal compared to the 2022 original.
Night City will burn again.
