Brawl Stars Teams Up With Duolingo: 20-Player Battle Against Duo the Owl, Free Spike, and Two Mythic Brawlers

Studio Supercell has officially announced a massive crossover between the mobile action game Brawl Stars and the language-learning service Duolingo. During the latest Brawl Talk episode, the developers unveiled a co-op raid boss mode for 20 players against the famous green owl Duo, a free legendary brawler Spike, two new Mythic characters, and a complete overhaul of the Starr Road system.
20-Player Battle Against Duo the Owl and an In-Arena Quiz
The centerpiece of the collaboration is a unique boss battle format: up to 20 players will face off on a single arena styled as a school classroom.
As reported by Brawl Stars Blog, the battle combines classic shooting with an interactive quiz:
- during attacks, Duo the owl asks players language and logic questions;
- brawlers must move to the arena sector with the correct answer in time;
- a correct choice grants a temporary power-up, while a mistake deals critical damage or knocks the player out of the round.
The Brawl Stars × Duolingo event starts on September 19, 2026, alongside themed activities in the language-learning app itself.
Free Spike and Community Rewards
Alongside the mode, a global community event kicks off. By completing collective goals, players will earn cosmetic items, Chaos Drops, and exclusive skins.
The main reward is the free unlock of the legendary brawler Spike for all users who haven’t unlocked the cactus on their account yet.
Starr Road Replaced by Brawler Blast System
Supercell is radically reworking the character unlock economy: the familiar Starr Road is being retired in favor of the Brawler Blast mechanic.
Now, as players accumulate credits, they unlock brawlers of a chosen rarity with a random bonus — the unlocked character may immediately receive free Power Levels, Gadgets, Star Powers, Gear, or Hypercharges. As compensation for the reform, all users will receive a gift of 1500 credits, which can be spent in the current system or saved until Brawler Blast launches.
Two New Mythic Brawlers: Cosmo and Vince
Two new Mythic-rarity characters will debut in the fall updates:
- Cosmo (September): a robot astronomer from Starr Park’s observatory. He fires projectiles that travel in an expanding orbit: the farther the target, the larger the caliber and damage. His Super places a magnetic mark on an enemy, attracting all ally shots to them;
- Vince (October): a quirky barista with entomologist habits. He accumulates up to 20 caterpillars around himself, which turn into moths, and releases a swarm on opponents with his ultimate.
According to the update breakdown on Brawl Stars Dicas, the Buffies modification mechanic will be expanded to six more characters: Poco, El Primo, Amber, Gus, Chuck, and Shade.
The base patch is scheduled for September 1, and the Duolingo event will start on September 19, 2026.
