Automobili Lamborghini has delivered a special patrol version of the Temerario Polizia supercar to the Italian State Police. Featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain producing 920 metric horsepower (around 907 hp), the vehicle is joining the fleet not for high-speed chases, but primarily to urgently transport donor organs and biological materials between regional clinics.

A Top Speed of 343 km/h for Urgent Transport

The handover ceremony for the blue-and-white coupe, equipped with emergency lights, took place at the brand’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The patrol version’s technical specifications completely mirror the production Lamborghini Temerario:

  • A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine is combined with three electric motors;
  • Total system output is 677 kW (920 hp);
  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 343 km/h.

Such performance is necessary in emergency situations when transplant viability is limited to a few hours, and medical helicopters cannot take off due to bad weather or dense urban development surrounding hospitals. The company has not yet disclosed the specific list of special equipment for the Temerario, but the brand’s other police vehicles traditionally feature a cryogenic refrigerator with temperature sensors and a portable defibrillator in the front trunk.

22 Years of Partnership and Hundreds of Organs Transported

The Temerario is the first plug-in hybrid to join Italian law enforcement. According to Lamborghini’s official press release, the joint program between the automaker and the traffic police marks its 22nd anniversary. The first patrol Gallardo was delivered to the department back in 2004, completing its first life-saving mission just a few months later.

Over the course of the partnership, the service has received six supercars from Sant’Agata, including Gallardo LP 560-4 variants, the Huracán coupe, and the high-performance Urus Performante SUV. Over two decades, these vehicles have carried out more than 200 urgent medical runs on Italian highways, frequently cutting travel times between Rome, Bologna, and Milan by 1.5 to 2 times to save patients on operating tables.
