Black Bear Pictures has released the debut trailer for the crime drama “Wife & Dog,” a new auteur project from Guy Ritchie. The British director once again turns to the dark secrets of high society in the spirit of “The Gentlemen,” with Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins in the lead roles. The theatrical premiere is set for February 19, 2027.

A Deadly Feud Within the Fairbank Clan and Fan Speculation

Guy Ritchie wrote the screenplay on his own. At the center of the story is the influential and fabulously wealthy Fairbank family, whose members enter a brutal internal battle over the family inheritance.

According to Black Bear’s official website, the clan’s greed quickly escalates into a chain of mutual betrayals, conspiracies and contract killings set against the luxurious estates of the English countryside.

Social media has already circulated details about a secret “mobster-groom” role who supposedly manipulates the heirs. But the official description for the AMC Theatres chain makes no mention of such details: the filmmakers are keeping key plot twists under wraps until the premiere, preserving the mystery.

The Cast and the Release Date Shift

Beyond the star trio at the top of the bill, Ritchie has assembled a strong cast of British character actors. The film features “Shogun” star Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton (“Rush”), Paddy Considine (“House of the Dragon”) and Pip Torrens (“The Crown”). Ed Wild handled cinematography, and the score was written by Christopher Benstead, Ritchie’s regular composer on his later films.

The project’s production schedule has been adjusted. According to TheWrap, the studio originally planned to release the film on October 23, 2026, but editing and polishing the final version required extra time, pushing the release window back by four months.

According to the analytics tracker The Numbers, the project is positioned as a flagship independent release for early 2027, aimed at a wide global theatrical run before heading to streaming services.
