Trailer Drops for Part 2 of the Animated Trilogy Batman: Knightfall

Warner Bros. Animation has released the first trailer for Batman: Knightfall Part 2: Knightquest, the second feature-length film in an animated trilogy based on the famous DC storyline from the 1990s. It will arrive before the end of 2026 on digital and physical media, though an exact date has not yet been announced.
Importantly, this is not a continuation of an animated series. DC and Warner Bros. Animation split the original Knightfall saga into three feature-length animated films: Knightfall, Knightquest and the upcoming KnightsEnd.
The first part has already been released and ended with one of the most famous events in Batman’s history: Bruce Wayne’s defeat at the hands of Bane.
Azrael Becomes the New Batman
In the second part, Bruce Wayne has already been broken by Bane and is paralyzed from the waist down, so he can no longer protect Gotham as Batman.
His place is taken by Jean-Paul Valley, also known as Azrael. The new Batman uses far more aggressive and brutal methods, which gradually turns him into a very different protector of Gotham.
This plot follows the structure of the original comics. The release of Arkham’s inmates and Bane’s plan to exhaust Bruce physically and psychologically formed the basis of the first part of the story, while Knightquest focuses on the aftermath of Batman’s defeat and Azrael’s time under the Dark Knight’s mask.

The Trilogy Adapts One of the Defining Batman Stories of the 1990s
Bruce Wayne is voiced by Anson Mount, Bane by Michael Mando, and Jean-Paul Valley by Pablo Schreiber. Jeff Wamester returns as director, with Jeremy Adams writing the script.
The original Knightfall arc was published in 1993–1994 and became one of the best-known Batman stories. It is the one in which Bane systematically wears the hero down and then breaks his back, after which the role of the new Batman passes to Azrael.
DC confirms that it decided not to condense the sprawling story into a single film but to split it into three feature-length parts. The first, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, is already available on digital, as well as on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD.
Batman: Knightfall Part 2: Knightquest arrives before the end of 2026. KnightsEnd will close out the trilogy, but details and a release window for the third film have not yet been announced.
