Bentley Unveils Its First EV: 888 HP, Up to 600 km of Range and a 16-Minute Charge

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, the first fully electric production car in the brand’s 107-year history. The five-meter SUV becomes the brand’s fourth standalone model line alongside the Bentayga, Continental and Flying Spur. Production will be organized at Bentley’s factory in Crewe.

Two versions will be offered at launch. The base Bentley Torcal gets two electric motors with a combined output of 821 hp and 1,155 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and can reach 250 km/h.

The more powerful Torcal S produces 888 hp and 1,350 Nm with Launch Control engaged. It hits 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and tops out at 260 km/h. Bentley calls this version the most powerful production car in its history.

A 113.2 kWh Battery and a 16-Minute Charge to 80%

Both versions come with a 113.2 kWh battery. Bentley claims up to 600 km of range, though European consumption and range figures are still awaiting final certification.

At a high-power DC station, the battery can charge from 10 to 80% in about 16 minutes. In ten minutes, the Torcal can gain up to 357 km of additional range.

The EV is also heavy: curb weight reaches 2,795 kg. It measures 5,008 mm long with a 3,023 mm wheelbase. The car can tow a trailer weighing up to 2,700 kg, and there’s an extra 90-liter trunk under the front hood.

76 Illuminated “Diamonds” Up Front

The Torcal is the first production Bentley to showcase the brand’s new design language. In place of the traditional open grille, it features a Floating Diamond Grille with 76 hand-installed LED elements. They light up gradually when the car is unlocked.

The cabin uses curved digital displays, Bentley’s traditional wood and leather trim, and new wool upholstery options.

The EV’s sound comes courtesy of Bentley Dynamic Symphony. Instead of the usual synthesized engine imitation, the company recorded real musical instruments — including drums, viola and bass guitar — and used them to create a dynamic soundtrack inspired by the character of classic Bentley V8s.

The Torcal also gets Bentley Active Ride active suspension, all-wheel steering and a suite of modern driver assistance systems. The optional Naim for Bentley system includes 28 speakers with a total output of 1,780 W and Dolby Atmos support.

The Torcal Could Become the Most Affordable Bentley

In the UK, pricing for the base version starts at around £173,300, while the Torcal S starts at £199,300. That makes the entry-level Torcal cheaper even than the current Bentayga, effectively becoming the new entry point to the Bentley lineup.

First deliveries are expected in 2027. The EV’s launch comes with a major upgrade of the Crewe facility: Bentley has invested around £350 million in production and the new Torcal line.

At the same time, the arrival of the first EV doesn’t mean the brand is abandoning internal combustion engines right away. Bentley previously delayed its original plan to switch to an all-electric lineup after 2030, so for now the Torcal will coexist with hybrid and gasoline models.
