Lenovo Unveils Compact 245W GaN Power Adapter That’s 30% Smaller Than a Standard Brick

Lenovo has unveiled the Bellator 245W, a compact GaN power adapter for high-performance gaming laptops, through its Chinese brand Lecoo. It goes on sale in China on October 8 for 249 yuan, or about $37.
Size is the main selling point. The adapter measures 82 × 82 × 33 mm and weighs about 450 g. According to the manufacturer, it is roughly 30% smaller in volume and 28% lighter than the standard 240W adapter included with a laptop.
The compact design comes thanks to gallium nitride (GaN) technology, which allows for denser, more efficient power circuits that generate less heat.

This is not a universal USB-C charger
Despite its 245W output and GaN internals, the Bellator is noticeably different from today’s multi-port chargers.
There is no USB-C here, and no way to charge several gadgets at once. The adapter has a fixed 1.5 m cable with a round 5.5 × 2.5 mm DC connector.
Lenovo also uses a thicker conductor and extra shielding in the cable, and the adapter plugs into the wall via a three-prong grounded plug.
So the Bellator 245W is designed primarily to replace a bulky stock gaming-laptop adapter, not to serve as a universal charger for a phone, tablet and computer.
Built for Lecoo gaming laptops
Officially, the new power adapter is compatible with the Lecoo Bellator Zhan 7000, Zhan 7000P and Zhan 7000X.
245W is enough to run these laptops in performance modes without power limits. The top-end Zhan 7000X already ships with a similar GaN adapter, so the standalone version may be useful as a spare or as a more compact replacement for other compatible models.
NotebookCheck notes that at 245W the device is noticeably more compact than traditional gaming adapters, which are often comparable in size and weight to a small external battery.
For now, the Bellator 245W is intended for the Chinese market only. Lenovo has not announced an international release, so outside China the device will likely be available only through third-party sellers.
