A Farming Sim with a Serial Killer: Horror Game Grave Seasons Delayed to Spring 2027

The publishing arm of film company Blumhouse and studio Perfect Garbage have announced a new release date for Grave Seasons, an unusual hybrid of a farming sandbox and a detective thriller. The game will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on March 9, 2027, and will also join the Game Pass catalog on day one.

This is the project’s second major delay. The horror game was originally slated for August 2026, then pushed to the fall to optimize the console versions, and now it has taken an additional six months for polishing. On its official Steam page, the developers have not even gotten around to updating the old placeholder release date yet. Even so, confidence in the project remains high: the game has racked up more than 750,000 wishlist additions, a phenomenal result for a new indie franchise before sales have even started.

Crops, Fishing and the Hunt for a Serial Killer

The buzz around Grave Seasons is easy to explain: it blends cozy Stardew Valley-style gameplay with the paranoid atmosphere of a slasher. As noted on the Blumhouse Games website, the protagonist escapes from prison and settles in the quiet town of Ashenridge, hoping to start life over. Players will go through the classic routine: growing crops, fishing, trading resources and building relationships with the locals.

The idyll falls apart when a series of brutal crimes hits the town. It turns out that one of the friendly neighbors is a supernatural serial killer. The investigation is built directly into the social simulator’s mechanics: to identify the killer and save the next potential victim, you’ll have to gather evidence, run errands for the townspeople and secretly break into other people’s houses. At the same time, the developers confirmed to Gematsu that the relationship system doesn’t limit the player’s choice of partner — if you want, you can even romance the killer.
