Radio on the Go and Podcasts: Rockstar Reveals GTA VI’s Music and Brings Back the Legendary Flash FM Station

A month and a half before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games has launched the game’s official music section and unveiled the first six radio stations of the state of Leonida. The developers didn’t just refresh the broadcast lineup — they reworked the rules that had been in place since the first 3D installments: the stations will now be rounded out with full-length talk podcasts, and players will be able to tune in not only behind the wheel of a car but also while walking around the city on foot.
The official GTA VI website already features interactive audio players with previews of the debut stations. The premiere lineup includes:
- Flash FM — a direct return of the iconic pop wave from the original GTA: Vice City (in the new installment, the station is hosted by singer Robin and Alex);
- Dirty South Classics — Southern hip-hop classics curated by rappers Trick and Trina;
- Cocoteo FM — the contemporary Latin American scene, with a focus on reggaeton, dembow, bachata and merengue;
- Back Country Radio — authentic country with satirical reports from the swamps and backwoods of Leonida;
- AfroBank FM — pan-African music, from classic rhythms to tracks in the amapiano and 3-step styles;
- The Chamber 106.6 — hard rock and metal from the 1980s and later eras.
A Smartphone and Headphones Instead of a Car Stereo
The main gameplay change concerns how players consume audio. Previously, the radio in GTA was tied strictly to vehicles or safehouses. In GTA VI, protagonists Jason and Lucia get personal smartphones paired with wireless headphones, Gematsu reports.
Players can step out of a stolen muscle car, walk into a clothing store or head out on a job on foot without interrupting a podcast episode or their favorite song. This approach noticeably changes the pace of exploring the open world, bringing the game’s atmosphere closer to the rhythm of a real city.
A Massive Album and Global Stars
Alongside licensed hits from the past, the developers have put together a monumental collection of exclusives, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. The record will feature 34 original tracks written specifically for the game, and it will hit streaming services at the same time as the action game’s premiere.
Rockstar has already released the first six singles: Travis Scott, Future, producer Metro Boomin, rapper Yung Lean, country star Morgan Wallen, Latin singer Rauw Alejandro and The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards all took part in the recordings.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as the studio reminded fans in an extended preview on the Rockstar Newswire. A PC release is still not officially confirmed.
