Disney Officially Announces Zootopia 3, Adding Birds to the Franchise’s World

Disney announced the development of the third installment in the Zootopia animated franchise (Zootopia 3) at the D23 event. According to TheWrap, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will return to their lead roles, and the threequel’s plot will focus on the world’s feathered inhabitants.
Walt Disney Animation Studios confirmed that the third installment will expand the familiar world of four-legged animals to include birds. Their existence was hinted at in the post-credits scene of Zootopia 2, and the threequel’s logo shown at the presentation features feathers.
The decision to move quickly on the sequel is driven by the franchise’s financial performance. The second installment grossed approximately $1.85 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing US animated film in history, unadjusted for inflation. In the Chinese market, the film’s box office reached $651 million, allowing the sequel to surpass the results of the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.
Disney has not yet announced an official release date for Zootopia 3.
