The Elder Scrolls VI Could Launch in 2028 as Sentinel, New Rumor Suggests

New details have emerged in the gaming community regarding the development of The Elder Scrolls VI. According to fan theories and insider reports, the sixth installment of the iconic RPG series could be titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel and tentatively launch in 2028.

Bethesda Game Studios has not officially announced the project’s subtitle or precise release timeframe. However, the Sentinel title theory has received indirect confirmation from within the industry. As noted by PC Gamer, Xbox head Asha Sharma mentioned the game on social media, obscuring the subtitle behind exactly eight asterisks.

According to GamesRadar+, the word Sentinel consists of exactly eight letters and is the name of one of the key cities in the region of Hammerfell, which is considered the main location for the upcoming game. Community speculation was also publicly supported by former Bethesda writer and designer Michael Kirkbride.

Development Timeline and Project Status

A 2028 target aligns with estimates from industry journalists. Industry reporter Jason Schreier previously stated that the game was at least two to three years away from a full release, making a 2028–2029 window the most likely.

The Elder Scrolls VI is currently the flagship project for Bethesda Game Studios, with the majority of the studio’s production capacity allocated to it. At the same time, studio head Todd Howard has repeatedly stated that the developers will not rush the release until the game’s quality meets perfection.
