Pixar revealed the first details of its animated blockbuster Incredibles 3 at D23. According to TheWrap, the threequel will focus on the older Parr children, with the film’s global premiere set for June 16, 2028.

The narrative will center on Violet and Dash as the teenagers sneak away from their parents to go on dangerous missions while looking after baby Jack-Jack, whose superpowers continue to evolve. Meanwhile, Bob (Mr. Incredible) faces an internal crisis as he tries to find his place in a changed world of new-generation superheroes.

Superhero Commercialization and a New Villain

Following the official legalization of superpowered individuals, businessman Winston Deavor launches the “Superhero League” project, turning world-saving into a commercial enterprise with merchandise and marketing. According to Pixar head Pete Docter, the movie’s core theme is that bringing superheroes back into the legal fold doesn’t mean everyone with abilities has good intentions.

The studio describes the threequel’s main villain as the most dangerous enemy in the franchise, possessing more power than all members of the Parr family combined.

Peter Sohn (Elemental, The Good Dinosaur) takes over the director’s chair for the third installment, succeeding Brad Bird, who directed the first two films. Bird remains involved with the project as a writer and executive producer.
