Huawei Unveils Unconventional Pura X View Smartphone With 16:9.5 Widescreen Display and 7,000 mAh Battery

Huawei has unveiled an unconventional candybar smartphone, the Pura X View. Moving away from tall aspect ratios, the device features a wide 16:9.5 OLED display, a record peak brightness of 6,500 nits, and a large 7,000 mAh battery packed into a body just 6.68 mm thick.
Designed around the “Born for content” concept, the device offers increased screen real estate for reading documents and e-books or multitasking with two apps side by side.
Return to Wide Aspect Ratios and a 6,500-Nit Display

Engineers moved away from the current standard of narrow 20:9 panels, returning to mid-2010s ergonomics. The 6.39-inch display features a resolution of 2232 × 1320 pixels and a usable area of 114.27 sq. cm. Symmetrical bezels measuring just 1.05 mm on all four sides give the screen a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio.
The panel features 2,160Hz PWM dimming and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The 16:9.5 aspect ratio plays standard 16:9 videos nearly full-screen without wide side borders.

According to Gizmochina, the main engineering achievement is internal layout: fitting a 7,000 mAh battery into a chassis just 6.68 mm thick, with the smartphone weighing 201 grams.
The back features an elongated horizontal camera island. The device will be the first commercial smartphone shipping with the stable release of HarmonyOS 7.0 pre-installed. The model will be available in red, gray, white, and black.
Launch Date and Availability
As reported by Android Authority, Huawei is keeping details about the processor, camera specifications, and official pricing secret for now.
A full presentation of technical specifications, pre-orders, and the official sales launch in China are scheduled for August 28, 2026.
