iPhone 20 Pro may get a nearly bezel-less display and a larger diagonal

Apple is already experimenting with displays for the anniversary iPhone generation expected in 2027. According to Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, future Pro models may get slightly larger screens, minimal bezels and glass with a slight curve on all four sides.

As MacRumors reports, two configurations are being tested at this early stage:

• iPhone 20 Pro — 6.41 inches, around 2686 × 1236 pixels;
• iPhone 20 Pro Max — 6.96 inches, around 2912 × 1340 pixels.

For comparison, the current iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have 6.27- and 6.86-inch displays, which Apple rounds to 6.3 and 6.9 inches in its marketing materials. If the company keeps its current approach, the 6.96-inch Pro Max could theoretically be advertised as a model with a 7-inch display.

The screen may curve slightly on all four sides

According to the leak, Apple is testing a so-called borderless quad-curved display — a screen with a very slight curve along all four edges and virtually invisible bezels.

This is not the pronounced “waterfall” design used in some Android smartphones. Earlier leaks described a much smoother transition from the glass to the side edges.

9to5Mac previously reported, citing Mark Gurman, that the anniversary iPhone should get glass on the front and back that curves toward the side edges, leaving a metal frame between the two glass parts.

Digital Chat Station also claims that Apple is experimenting with a smaller cutout for the front-facing components, which would visually reduce the size of the Dynamic Island.

That said, the final configuration has not been decided yet. Other leaks have mentioned an under-display Face ID and even a front camera hidden beneath the display, so Apple appears to be testing several options at once.

The iPhone 20 Pro name itself remains unofficial. Research firm Omdia previously reported that Apple may skip the 19 index and move to number 20 to mark the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone.

There is already a precedent: in 2017, alongside the iPhone 8, the company unveiled the anniversary iPhone X, skipping the iPhone 9. Under the rumored new schedule, the Pro models of the anniversary generation should arrive in the second half of 2027.

But the release is still about a year away, so the current specs should be treated as parameters of prototypes being tested. Apple has not confirmed the screen sizes, the lineup name or the final bezel-less design.

In addition, there have been earlier reports of manufacturing difficulties with a fully bezel-less device. So even if the current prototypes do use a quad-curved panel, the final production design may still change noticeably.
