Toei Animation Announces Two New One Piece Movies: God Valley Adaptation and Mysterious BAAD Project

Animation studio Toei Animation announced two new feature films in the iconic One Piece franchise at ONE PIECE DAY’26. One Piece Film: God Valley will hit theaters in the summer of 2027, followed by One Piece Film: BAAD in 2029.
These projects will be the franchise’s first theatrical releases since the box office success of 2022’s One Piece Film: Red, which earned over 20.3 billion yen in Japan.
The God Valley Incident and the Manga’s 30th Anniversary
According to Anime Corner, the franchise’s 16th feature film, God Valley, will adapt one of the key historical events in canon, taking place 38 years before Luffy set sail.
The story will center on the legendary battle on God Valley island, where the Rocks Pirates faced off against an alliance between a young Navy Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp and the future Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. For the first time on the big screen, audiences will see young versions of Whitebeard, Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, and Golden Lion Shiki.
The film’s Japanese premiere is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, which launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997.
BAAD Film and Netflix Remake
According to the official Japanese One Piece website, the second announced project, One Piece Film: BAAD, will premiere in 2029 to mark the 30th anniversary of the original anime series, which has been airing since 1999. Eiichiro Oda designed the film’s logo himself, though plot details remain under wraps.
Additionally, a Netflix announcement confirmed the premiere date for WIT Studio‘s anime remake, The One Piece: the seven-episode first season, covering the East Blue saga up to the Baratie arc, will release in February 2027.
