Nvidia to End Windows 10 Game Ready Driver Support in October

Nvidia has officially announced the timeline for ending full support of the Windows 10 operating system. According to the Nvidia GeForce support plan, the final Game Ready driver release with optimizations for new game releases will launch in October 2026. Starting in November, all new gaming builds will be exclusive to Windows 11.
For gamers, this means the end of proprietary Day-One profiles and software improvements on the older OS.
What Changes for Gamers in November
After the October release, graphics cards on Windows 10 will continue to function normally, and already installed games will remain playable. However, new releases will no longer receive day-one optimizations, and updates to the DLSS family of technologies and specialized bug fixes will no longer be ported to Windows 10.
All future development of gaming features will focus exclusively on the Windows 11 ecosystem.
Security Patches Until October 2029
Updates will not stop entirely: after October, Nvidia will transition the operating system to maintenance mode. Until October 2029 Windows 10 users will receive regular quarterly security patches addressing critical vulnerabilities.
The transition timeline is as follows:
- October 2026: release of the final Game Ready driver with optimizations for Windows 10;
- From November 2026: new game drivers will be released only for Windows 11;
- Until October 2029: regular quarterly security updates for Windows 10.
An Extra Year of Support from Nvidia
Microsoft officially ended mainstream support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. The GPU manufacturer provided users with an additional year of full driver support.
According to tech outlet HwBusters, ending Game Ready driver support will serve as a key incentive to upgrade to Windows 11 for owners of modern GeForce RTX 30, RTX 40 and RTX 50 series graphics cards who want to maintain peak performance in new games.
