Suno introduces strict limits on track downloads and invisible watermarks from September 3

From September 3, the popular music AI generator Suno will radically change the conditions of use. The service will impose strict restrictions on downloading tracks for all categories of users and will begin to embed invisible watermarks in audio recordings. The changes are the result of Suno’s agreement with Warner Music Group to resolve copyright infringement disputes.

The main innovation concerns the limits for downloading generated compositions. The free tariff will actually turn into an introductory one: users will be able to save no more than 7 tracks for the entire existence of the account.

The restrictions will also affect the owners of paid subscriptions:

• Basic fare: up to 20 downloads per month;
• Maximum tariff: Up to 60 downloads per month.

To combat unlicensed distribution, Suno will begin to make a sound watermark invisible to the human ear in all created files. With its help, streaming platforms and moderators will be able to automatically identify tracks created by the neural network.

In parallel, the company is developing a new generation of the model – Suno V6. It will be taught exclusively on a legal catalog with licensed music. After the release of the V6, the developers plan to completely disable all current versions of the generator.
