AI service Suno to introduce strict track download limits and invisible watermarks starting September 3

Starting September 3, the popular AI music generator Suno will fundamentally change its terms of use. The service will introduce strict download limits for all user tiers and begin embedding invisible watermarks into audio files. These changes are the result of an agreement between Suno and Warner Music Group to settle copyright infringement disputes.

The primary update concerns download limits for generated compositions. The free tier will effectively become a trial version: users will be able to save no more than 7 tracks over the entire lifetime of their account.

The restrictions will also affect paid subscribers:

• Basic plan: up to 20 downloads per month;
• Pro plan: up to 60 downloads per month.

To combat unlicensed distribution, Suno will begin embedding an inaudible audio watermark into all generated files. This will allow streaming platforms and moderators to automatically identify tracks created by the neural network.

In parallel, the company is developing a new generation of the model, Suno V6. It will be trained exclusively on a legal catalog of licensed music. Following the V6 release, the developers plan to completely shut down all current versions of the generator.
