Binance Launches 24/7 Currency Futures With Up to 100x Leverage

Binance is expanding its TradFi offering with the launch of perpetual futures tied to currency exchange rates. The first will be the USDBRLUSDT contract, which tracks the US dollar against the Brazilian real. Trading starts September 21 and will be available around the clock, including weekends.
The new instrument falls under USDⓈ-M Futures and is settled in USDT. Users do not buy dollars or reais directly — it is a derivative contract whose value follows the USD/BRL pair.
According to Binance’s official announcement, the minimum notional trade size is 5 USDT, and maximum leverage reaches 100x. Funding is calculated every eight hours, with a cap of ±0.375%.
On Weekends, the Rate Will Be Set Inside Binance
The product’s key feature is 24/7 trading. The regular currency market effectively closes on weekends, so Binance has developed two modes for setting the index price.
During standard Forex hours, the index updates every second based on quotes from several third-party data providers.
When the traditional currency market is closed — on weekends and holidays — Binance switches to Orderbook EWMA mode. In this mode, the price is calculated using an exponentially weighted average based on the exchange’s own order book.
In effect, during this period participants trade a derivative that reflects market expectations for the future USD/BRL rate, while full-fledged interbank pricing is unavailable at that moment.
Binance also uses mark price, multiple quote sources and deviation limits. At the same time, the company itself warns that trading TradFi contracts outside the underlying market’s standard hours can come with heightened volatility and liquidation risk.
This is especially true of 100x leverage: at that level, even a small move against a position can quickly wipe out the margin.
Binance Keeps Bridging Crypto and Traditional Assets
The FX futures are the latest expansion of the TradFi Perpetual category. Binance already offers perpetual contracts tied to traditional assets, including stocks, ETFs and commodities, but settlement and margin remain crypto-based — in USDT.
Exchanges’ interest in the currency market is easy to explain by its scale. According to the Bank for International Settlements, average daily turnover in the global over-the-counter currency market reached $9.6 trillion in April 2025, up 28% from 2022.
So far, Binance has officially announced only USD/BRL. The company did not say which currency pairs will come next or when exactly that will happen.
Availability also depends on the user’s region: Binance separately warns that certain products and services may not be available in some countries.
