Silent Hill: Townfall Is Out Now in Early Access — Full Release Set for September 24

Players who preordered the Digital Deluxe Edition of Silent Hill: Townfall can start playing 48 hours before the official release. Everyone else gets the new psychological horror game on September 24, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Townfall was developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive, known until 2025 as No Code, the team behind Stories Untold and Observation. The game is published jointly by Konami and Annapurna Interactive and is a full standalone Silent Hill entry, not a small spinoff or an episodic project.

The story is set in 1996 on the cold, isolated Scottish island of St. Amelia. Protagonist Simon Ordell returns there to “make things right,” only to find an almost abandoned town shrouded in thick fog. As he explores the island, he tries to understand his own connection to the place and gradually pieces together fragments of the past.

The first full Silent Hill game in first person

Townfall is played entirely in first person. Konami calls it the series’ first full-length game built completely around that perspective.

Players will explore the buildings and streets of St. Amelia, search for clues, solve story puzzles, avoid creatures and fight them when necessary. The arsenal is deliberately limited, so combat doesn’t turn Townfall into a standard action game.

One of the key tools is the CRTV, a pocket television capable of picking up unstable signals. It serves not only as a story element but also directly during exploration and when solving some puzzles.

The developers also put greater emphasis on sound because of the limited field of view in first person: threats often have to be identified by footsteps and other audio cues off screen. On PS5, the game additionally uses 3D Audio, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and the DualSense gyroscope.

Deluxe Edition includes 48 hours of early access

It is specifically the Digital Deluxe Edition preorder that includes 48 hours of early access. So describing the bonus simply as a perk of any Deluxe version isn’t quite accurate.

The Deluxe Edition also includes a digital artbook, the soundtrack and an alternate costume for Simon. Preorder bonuses include an alternate CRTV look, and on PS5 there’s an additional exclusive design variant for the device.

Konami confirms that Silent Hill: Townfall will get its full release on September 24, 2026. The PC versions will arrive simultaneously on Steam and the Epic Games Store, while the console version is announced only for PlayStation 5 at launch.
