ARC Raiders and The Finals Are Getting Adaptations — Chernin Entertainment to Lead the Projects

Nexon and Embark Studios have struck a deal with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and TV adaptations of ARC Raiders and The Finals. According to Variety, the production company landed the projects after competing with several other Hollywood players.
The projects are still in early development. It has not been announced which game will get a film and which will get a series — or whether each franchise will eventually expand across multiple formats at once. The plot, cast, directors, platforms and release dates are also unknown.
According to Insider Gaming, Chernin will use both its film and television divisions to work on the two IPs.
Embark will be involved in creating the adaptations
Embark Studios founder and Nexon executive chairman Patrick Söderlund called the deal the next step in turning ARC Raiders and The Finals into full-fledged transmedia franchises.
The game developers, however, do not plan to hand the projects over to Hollywood entirely. Embark will work alongside Chernin to preserve the visual style and distinctive features of both universes in the move to film and television.
The timing is especially good for ARC Raiders. The extraction shooter launched on October 30, 2025, and quickly became the biggest new release in Nexon’s history. In spring 2026, the company reported that the game had sold more than 16 million copies.
The Finals has been around longer: Embark’s free-to-play competitive shooter debuted in late 2023 and has since drawn tens of millions of registered players.
Chernin already works with major franchises
Chernin Entertainment is well versed in large-scale genre projects. The company was involved in producing several films in the Planet of the Apes series and in 2026 served as one of the producers of the horror film Backrooms.
The latter was a particularly notable commercial success: according to The Numbers, on a production budget of about $10 million, the film grossed just over $400 million worldwide.
In the case of ARC Raiders and The Finals, however, it is still more accurate to talk not about specific films or series but about adaptations entering development. Chernin and Embark have yet to determine the format of each story and assemble their creative teams.
