Germany Gets an Electricity Plan Built for Gamers — Heavy Users Can Pay Less

German energy company SWK Energie has launched meinGAMING, a plan aimed primarily at gamers, streamers and other households with high electricity consumption. There is, of course, no special “gaming PC energy” here: customers pay a higher fixed monthly fee but get a lower price per kilowatt-hour.

That makes meinGAMING more worthwhile specifically at high consumption. SWK itself recommends the plan for households that use more than 2,500 kWh per year.

In its advertising, the company cites typical scenarios: long gaming sessions, multiple computers, 4K streaming, a home office and other devices that run constantly. For larger setups, it mentions benchmarks of 3,500–5,000 kWh per year.

The “gamer” plan actually suits more than just gamers

The name is first and foremost a marketing move. The economics of the plan do not depend in any way on your graphics card, your hours in Steam or whether you own a gaming chair.

What matters is a household’s total electricity consumption. If someone games little but charges an electric car, runs an air conditioner, a home server or other energy-hungry equipment, the plan can be just as worthwhile for them.

And the reverse is true: a single powerful gaming PC does not guarantee savings. A higher base fee means that at low consumption, a standard plan may be cheaper.

The cost also depends on the postal code. So there is no single price for all of Germany: SWK suggests entering your region and annual consumption into a calculator and comparing the result with local plans.

On its Bavaria page, the company separately publishes calculations for cities at 3,500 kWh per year. These figures should be treated as examples from the provider itself — actual rates and potential savings vary depending on the region, your current contract and the date of the calculation.

The electricity is billed as fully renewable

SWK says it buys 100% of the electricity for meinGAMING from renewable sources, including European hydroelectric plants.

The origin of the electricity is confirmed by certificates, and TÜV NORD CERT audits the supply volume every year.

The company is also trying to promote the plan through streamers and bloggers. Under its Creator Program, partners are offered from €75 per acquired customer, with no minimum audience size requirement.

Ultimately, meinGAMING is more of a classic plan for heavy users, repackaged for a gaming audience. Its real advantage comes not from how powerful your PC is, but from how much electricity the whole household uses in a year.
