Return of the Giants: XMG Launches 18-Inch PRO 18 Laptops with RTX 5070 Ti Graphics and a 300Hz Display

German manufacturer XMG has announced the European launch of its PRO 18 gaming laptops and the more affordable PRO 18 Value Edition. It’s a milestone for the brand: the company hasn’t released a portable computer with an 18-inch diagonal in about 15 years. The new models pack powerful 2026-generation mobile hardware, including Intel Core Ultra processors and discrete GeForce RTX 50-series graphics, but they’re positioned not as extreme desktop replacements but as balanced work and gaming stations.
The flagship XMG PRO 18 leads the series. Inside is a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor (8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores) and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU with 12GB of fast GDDR7 memory. The graphics chip runs with a power limit of up to 140W with Dynamic Boost, and the laptop’s overall cooling system is designed for sustained combined loads of up to 205W.
Fast 16:10 Displays and the Value Edition

Both laptops come with high-quality 18-inch IPS panels with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560×1600 resolution, 500 nits peak brightness and full coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces.
The differences between the two versions come down to refresh rate and graphics chip:
- The higher-end PRO 18 offers a refresh rate of up to 300Hz when the panel is connected directly to the discrete GPU via MUX Switch (in hybrid Nvidia Optimus mode, adaptive sync is available in the 50–240Hz range);
- The PRO 18 VE (Value Edition) has a 180Hz panel, a 20-core Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus chip and a 115W RTX 5070 GPU with the same 12GB of GDDR7.
Even so, the base platform of the lower-end version is almost on par with the flagship: the cooling system can dissipate up to 200W of total heat, Notebookcheck reports.
Rare Upgrade Options and Dimensions

Unlike many modern thin models with soldered components, the PRO 18 series is designed with upgrades in mind. Users can install up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM and two fast M.2 drives (one slot supports the advanced PCIe 5.0 interface, the other PCIe 4.0) with the option to combine them into RAID 0 or 1 arrays.
The port selection is comprehensive: Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 support and charging up to 140W, HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 2.1, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, a fast full-size SD card reader and a Wi-Fi 7 module.
The engineers managed to avoid turning the laptop into an unmanageable suitcase. The chassis is a moderate 26.5mm thick, and the higher-end version weighs 2.9kg (the VE version weighs 2.82kg). The top lid is made of durable aluminum, while the main frame is rigid polycarbonate. Inside there’s a battery with a capacity of 99.8Wh — the maximum allowed for air travel.

European prices for base configurations with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD start at €2,849 for the Value Edition and €3,299 for the flagship PRO 18. In the brand’s lineup, the new 18-inch models fill the niche of large displays for content creators and hardcore gamers, leaving the title of uncompromising flagships to the extreme XMG NEO line with RTX 5080- and 5090-class graphics cards.
