A 10,000 mAh Battery in a Standard Body: Vivo Unveils the Record-Breaking Long-Lasting S2 FE

Vivo has announced the S2 FE, a mid-range smartphone for India whose headline feature is a 10,000 mAh battery. Until now, batteries like this have appeared only in heavy industrial devices weighing close to half a kilogram. The brand’s engineers managed to break that stereotype: the new phone has the dimensions of a standard modern smartphone — 8.6 mm thick and just 224 grams.

That layout was made possible by a fourth-generation silicon-carbon anode in the BlueVolt battery, according to Vivo’s India press office. The energy density allowed the company to shrink the physical size of the cell without sacrificing longevity: the manufacturer promises at least 80% capacity retention even after 1,400 full charging cycles.

In internal tests, the battery lasts 30 hours of continuous video playback or 14 hours of mobile gaming. The phone also supports reverse wired charging and can serve as a power bank for other gadgets.

The hardware and the compromises behind the record

To keep the price down and fit a giant battery into a thin body, the engineers had to make noticeable functional compromises. The official S2 FE spec sheet lists a modest set of key specifications:

  • Processor and memory: the device is built on the power-efficient MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chip, but it comes with aging LPDDR4X RAM (6 or 8 GB) and strictly fixed 128 GB of storage with no microSD slot;
  • Cameras: the main module pairs a basic 50-megapixel Sony IMX852 sensor with a 2 MP depth sensor — there is no full-fledged ultrawide module or optical zoom on the device;
  • Charging speed: power is capped at 44 W, so fully filling the 10,000 mAh capacity will take a noticeable amount of time at the outlet;
  • Wireless modules: the Indian version lacks an NFC chip for contactless payments.

The display, however, remains flagship-grade: a bright 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2800 × 1260 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The body has maximum water protection under the IP68/IP69 standards and MIL-STD-810H drop resistance.

A Guinness World Record and the launch

The marketing campaign was built around a Guinness World Record for continuous video streaming (32 hours 37 minutes on a single charge). The certificate formally went to the Vivo V80 Lite 5G — that is the name under which the device is set to go on sale in some global markets.

Retail sales in India are scheduled to start on October 20. The base 6/128 GB version is priced at 38,999 rupees (about $440), while the 8 GB RAM variant will cost 42,999 rupees. The new phone is aimed primarily at those for whom two to three days of battery life matters critically, without having to carry heavy external batteries, while modest storage and basic cameras take a back seat.
