BMW iX4 Leaks Ahead of Debut — First Photos of the Electric Crossover Coupe Surface Online

The first photos of the BMW iX4 without camouflage have surfaced online — the new electric crossover coupe from the Neue Klasse family. The images reveal both the exterior and the interior of the production model ahead of its official debut, which one BMW dealer has announced for October 8.

The photos were first posted by the Kero Wolf account and then picked up by automotive media. As AutoWeek notes, up to the B-pillar the iX4 closely resembles the iX3, but the rear is radically different: the roofline drops noticeably earlier, and the rear window sits almost horizontally.

As a result, the car looks more like a tall fastback or Gran Turismo than a traditional SUV.

The electric successor to the X4

The iX4 will be the coupe-like sibling of the new iX3 and effectively carries the BMW X4 idea forward in a fully electric format. It is built on the Neue Klasse architecture with sixth-generation battery cells and a new electric system.

Canadian dealer Elite BMW, which announced a public showing of the production iX4 on October 8, states outright that the model shares its batteries, electric motors and DC fast charging at up to 400 kW with the iX3.

The cabin uses the new Panoramic iDrive X concept. One of its key elements will be BMW Panoramic Vision — a wide display area running along the bottom of the windshield.

BMW has not yet officially disclosed the exact specs for all versions. According to preliminary information, the lineup is expected to include at least the iX4 40 xDrive and iX4 50 xDrive. The more aerodynamic body could theoretically provide a small range advantage over the related iX3, but it is best to wait for BMW itself to confirm the specific figures.

The iX4 arrives in Europe in 2026

The model’s very existence and its imminent launch are no longer rumors. In its BMW Group Capital Market Day 2026 materials, the company stated outright that the BMW i3 and iX4 will be available in Europe in 2026.

Timelines vary by region, though: the same Canadian dealer says the iX4 will reach the local market in 2027.

According to BMWBlog, production of the iX4 under the internal index NA7 is scheduled to begin in November at BMW’s Debrecen plant, where the new iX3 is already being built.

The leak, then, appears to show a nearly finished production car. The official debut should clarify the specs, trim levels, range and pricing.
