Intel May Bring Raptor Lake Back to Laptops — New Series to Be Called Core 2000HX

Intel appears to be preparing yet another return of the Raptor Lake architecture, which first appeared in 13th-gen Core processors. According to leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, the new mobile lineup for high-performance and gaming laptops will be called Core 2000HX and will arrive in 2027.

These processors previously surfaced under the codename Raptor Lake Next, while leaks also mentioned the Core 200HX designation. As VideoCardz reports, the four-digit index is meant to set the new series apart from the existing Core 200H and the more modern Core Ultra 200HX.

That said, Intel has not yet officially introduced the Core 2000HX. The only confirmed lineup is the current Core Ultra 200HX Plus: the company released it in March 2026.

Up to 24 cores and a familiar architecture

According to earlier information from leaker Jaykihn, the mobile version of Raptor Lake Next will consist exclusively of high-performance HX models. Preliminary reports point to three configurations:

  • Core 9 — 8 P-cores + 16 E-cores, 24 total;
  • Core 7 — 8 P-cores + 12 E-cores, 20 total;
  • Core 7 — 6 P-cores + 8 E-cores, 14 total.

Clock speeds, cache capacity, power limits and the specific processor names are still unknown. The same leak claimed that mobile Raptor Lake Next chips may ship without the vPro and SIPP enterprise technologies.

The new chips will likely be positioned as a more affordable alternative to current Core Ultra processors. One potential advantage of the older platform is support for cheaper DDR4, though Intel has not yet published the final specs for the mobile Core 2000HX.

For gaming laptops, this approach makes a certain amount of sense: with a powerful discrete graphics card on board, manufacturers can save on the CPU platform and memory while keeping high multi-threaded performance.

Raptor Lake gets its fifth commercial incarnation

If the leak pans out, the Core 2000HX will mark roughly the fifth use of Raptor Lake under a new generation or brand.

The architecture has already appeared in:

  • 13th-gen Core;
  • 14th-gen Core;
  • select Core 100 chips;
  • Core 200;
  • and now it may return as the Core 2000HX.

That is why the phrase “fifth version of Raptor Lake” is a loose one: it does not refer to five new architectures, but to the repeated use and refresh of a single silicon family under different lineups.

Preliminary reports say Raptor Lake Next will launch in 2027 and will be sold alongside the far more modern Nova Lake. Leaks point to the Core Ultra 4000 brand for the latter.

Intel could therefore offer laptop makers two substantially different platforms at the same time: a new architecture for expensive models and the proven Raptor Lake for systems where price and compatibility matter more.
