Sacha Baron Cohen is mounting a major comeback for his most infamous alter egos. Amazon MGM Studios has released the second trailer for the comedy “Ali G: Who Iz I?”, set to hit theaters on October 23, 2026. Borat Sagdiyev emerged as an unexpected headliner in the teaser: the fictional Kazakh journalist returns to the screen six years after the “Borat” sequel to address critics of the upcoming film in his trademark absurd fashion.

In the clip, the character speaks on behalf of Kazakhstan’s fictional Ministry of Information. Responding to social media backlash over cultural and racial stereotypes, Borat deadpans that the film was thoroughly inspected for racism and, “to our great disappointment, nothing objectionable was found,” reports Rolling Stone.

The studio has yet to confirm whether Borat plays a full-fledged role in the film’s plot; his appearance may simply be a standalone viral sketch. However, the video also features Colonel Erran Morad (the counterterrorism expert from the satirical series “Who Is America?”), hinting at an ensemble featuring several of the comedian’s key personas in a single project.

A Mockumentary Escape to America

The iconic faux-gangster persona Ali G hasn’t led a standalone feature film in 24 years, dating back to 2002’s “Ali G Indahouse.” According to the official synopsis from AMC Theatres, the new story is driven by family drama: the protagonist learns that his longtime girlfriend Julie (played by British comedian Morgana Robinson) is eight months pregnant.

To raise money to support the child and recapture his faded fame, the wannabe rapper embarks on a tour across the US.

The film’s primary stylistic shift lies in its execution. While the 2002 release was a traditional scripted comedy, “Ali G: Who Iz I?” pivots back to guerrilla mockumentary filmmaking reminiscent of the original “Borat” and “Brüno,” notes TheWrap. Filming was conducted in complete secrecy, staging real-world pranks with actual politicians, officials, and unsuspecting bystanders.

The Comedian’s Feature Directorial Debut

The project represents a key milestone in the actor’s career: as Variety notes, the film will officially mark Sacha Baron Cohen’s feature directorial debut, as he previously entrusted directing duties on his movies to outside filmmakers such as Larry Charles.

The film will run a concise 89 minutes. Amazon MGM Studios plans to give the title an ultra-short theatrical run for a single holiday weekend from October 23 through October 25, 2026, before quickly heading to the Prime Video streaming library.
