Nvidia’s next generation of gaming graphics cards could debut ahead of its typical two-year cycle. According to insider channel Moore’s Law Is Dead, the company’s management has tentatively approved a release plan for the GeForce RTX 60 lineup powered by the new Rubin architecture in the first half of 2027. However, the chipmaker has not yet officially confirmed the timeline or specifications for the series.
The “Big Rubin” Flagship and the Insider Debate Over Timelines
As reported by tech site TweakTown, a consumer adaptation of the Rubin architecture has already received the green light internally. The most buzz surrounds rumors of a future flagship tier GeForce RTX 6090 codenamed “Big Rubin,” with insiders claiming the top-tier GPU will feature a fundamentally different design, potentially transitioning to chiplets and boosting Tensor Cores for neural rendering demands.
However, reports of a spring 2027 launch contradict previous reputable leaks. Earlier this year, well-known leaker kopite7kimi stated in a Tom’s Hardware report that Rubin-based consumer silicon in the GR20x family would not arrive until the second half of 2027. This skepticism stems from capacity constraints at TSMC’s advanced node fabs, whose manufacturing capacity is currently prioritized for high-margin enterprise AI server chips.
The Current Status of the Rubin Platform
The Rubin platform itself does exist and is being prepared for shipments in the server segment. A press release in the NVIDIA Newsroom introduced the Vera Rubin supercomputer architecture, scheduled for data center deployment in the second half of 2026. However, the company has never publicly stated that its consumer graphics architecture will share an identical structure.
The current GeForce RTX 50 lineup is based on Blackwell silicon. If the revised timeframe is confirmed, the RTX 60 generation will mark the next major milestone in the development of gaming GPUs. At this stage, any discussion regarding memory configurations, power draw, and pricing for the RTX 6090 remains unconfirmed rumor.
