Massive Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod Adding Mexico Set for September 16 Release

A team of enthusiasts led by modder Rixus724 has announced Nuevo Paraíso: The Forgotten Frontier, an unofficial story expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2. The mod recreates the full region of Mexico with new settlements, a railway network, and a story campaign, with the initial public release coming to PC on September 16, 2026.
The project is built on RDR2’s graphics engine, adapting the flora, fauna, and architecture to match modern game standards.
Recreating Nuevo Paraíso and Open-World Activities
Rather than simply porting the geometry of the original 2010 map, the developers rebuilt the Mexican state from scratch. The region now features ranches, authentic towns, a road network, bandit camps, and NPCs with their own daily routines.
According to ITC.ua, players will be able to engage in:
- Robbing passenger and freight trains;
- Clearing fortified hostile gang hideouts;
- Searching for hidden treasures and secret caves;
- Bounty hunting contracts and minigames;
- Mexican army patrols and random road events.

Sadie Adler’s Storyline in 1907
The main storyline focuses on an unrevealed chapter of Sadie Adler‘s life. Set in 1907 during the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption 2, the story follows her as she crosses the border before traveling to South America, getting caught up in the conflicts that lead up to the events of the original game.
Players will also be able to explore Mexico in sandbox mode as John Marston or Arthur Morgan.
Staggered Release on Nexus Mods
Due to the massive scope of the project, it will be released in phases: on September 16, the first playable build will launch with a fully open map, basic activities, and environments, while full story quests will be added in subsequent patches.
The mod is being developed exclusively for PC and will be available for free on Nexus Mods. Playing it requires a legitimate copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 installed along with Script Hook libraries.
