‘South Park’ Becomes ‘South America’: Season 29 Premieres with New Intro and an E-Bike War

Comedy Central has premiered Season 29 of the satirical animated series South Park. Show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have pulled off their high-profile prank: the show now appears under the banner South America in its opening credits, theme song and official descriptions. The debut episode is already available on the Paramount+ streaming library.

E-Bike Biker Gangs and a Trump Parody

The season opener is titled South American Biker Gangs. The plot parodies teenagers’ widespread obsession with light electric transport:

• Eric Cartman pushes to buy an expensive e-bike, after which Stan, Kyle and Kenny switch to bikes;
• The schoolkids form something like biker gangs, flood the town’s streets and dictate their own rules on the roads;
• Parents and city authorities panic, unsuccessfully trying to stop the aggressive underage riders.

Criticism of American politics remains the premiere’s overarching theme. As Variety notes, the creators completely redrew the opening intro, adding a caricatured Donald Trump, while the transformation of “South Park” into “South America” plays on the renaming of Lake Ontario to Lake America and big media’s willingness to obey government orders.

Season 29 Release Schedule and the Franchise’s Anniversary

An official Paramount Press Express release confirms that the new season consists of six episodes. The show airs on a biweekly schedule:

• Episode 2 — September 30;
• Episode 3 — October 14;
• Episode 4 — October 28;
• Episode 5 — November 11;
• Episode 6 (season finale) — November 25.

Episodes are released digitally on the official South Park Studios website and on Paramount+ the day after they air on TV. The current season brings the show up to a milestone: the legendary saga launched in 1997 and in 2027 will officially enter its fourth decade of continuous broadcasting.
