Yennefer May Return in The Witcher 4 — Actress Reportedly Already Recorded New Lines About Ciri

Yennefer may appear in The Witcher 4. The rumors started with a story from a fan who met Denise Gough, the English actress who voiced the sorceress in The Witcher 3. According to him, Gough mentioned that she had recently recorded new lines related to Ciri.
The story appeared on Reddit, where a user showed a copy of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Last Wish signed by the actress. It was later picked up by gaming outlets, including Notebookcheck.
Still, this is not confirmation that Yennefer is returning in The Witcher 4. Gough’s comment is known only from the fan’s account, and the actress did not specify which project she recorded the dialogue for.
Ciri will indeed be the main character
Linking the new lines specifically to The Witcher 4 seems plausible, if only because Ciri will be the protagonist of the next main installment in the series.
CD Projekt Red officially confirmed this back in 2024. The game will open a new saga, and Ciri has already been shown as a professional witcher taking on her own monster contracts.
Yennefer’s return would also make sense in that kind of story: in the books and games, she remains one of the people closest to Ciri and effectively serves as her adoptive mother. But the studio has not yet included Yennefer in the official list of The Witcher 4 characters.
The lines could have been recorded for new The Witcher 3 DLC
There is another explanation. In May, CD Projekt Red announced Songs of the Past, the third major expansion for The Witcher 3, due out in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The company is working on the DLC with Fool’s Theory, and Geralt will once again be the main character. So Denise Gough’s new recordings could theoretically be for that project — or for several upcoming releases in the universe at once.
The Witcher 4 itself will arrive later. In September, CD Projekt Red named 2028 as its planned release window.
So Yennefer’s new lines look like an interesting lead, but for now they only support a cautious conclusion: Denise Gough is probably working on some Witcher project again, but her involvement in The Witcher 4 specifically has not been confirmed.
