MiniMax Design App Makes Turnkey Ad and Video Creation a Reality with AI Agents

Chinese AI developer MiniMax has introduced MiniMax Design, a desktop app that combines image, video, script, voiceover, and music generation in a single workspace. Instead of manually switching between dozens of separate services, the program lets users hand off projects to a coordinated team of autonomous AI agents.

According to the official MiniMax Design website, an orchestrating agent analyzes a text brief, breaks it down into stages, and distributes tasks among specialized models: some generate storyboards and concept art, others edit the video sequence, and others synthesize voiceovers and layer the soundtrack.

A Node-Based Canvas and Character Style Consistency

At the core of the interface is an infinite visual Canvas with a node-based system. The entire content production pipeline comes together on it in real time, from the initial script and references to the final 2K video clip and audio track.

This approach allows users to make targeted edits to individual scenes, change camera angles, or alter color schemes without regenerating the project from scratch.

Key features of the workspace include:

• Character consistency: the system allows locking in specific character appearances, brand identity, composition, or color palettes across a sequence of frames;
• Skills library: preset workflows for specific business tasks—such as the Ad Director template for turning product photos into video ads, storyboarding, creating vertical clips, and animation;
• Custom workflows: users can build their own automated generation chains using natural language prompts;
• Local file support: the desktop client directly imports local documents, fonts, and media files from the computer.

Flagship H3 Model and Five-Minute Tracks

The platform’s primary generative engine is the open-weights multimodal model MiniMax H3. The model can generate realistic videos up to 15 seconds long in resolutions up to 2K with native stereo sound.

Original audio soundtracks are generated by Music 3.0, which creates full music tracks up to five minutes long based on a genre description and custom lyrics.

The application is available for download on PCs running Windows 10+ (x64) and macOS 13+. The service operates on a freemium model: new users receive 3,000 free credits upon registration to test all generative tools.
