Massive Minecraft RPG Modpack ‘Ascension of Ages’ Turns the Game Into an Epic Campaign With 8 Eras and 1,800 Quests

A massive modpack called Ascension of Ages is gaining popularity in the Minecraft community, fundamentally transforming the classic sandbox into a complex story-driven RPG campaign. The pack combines over 500 mods, 8 sequential historical eras, and more than 1,820 quests spread across 55 thematic chapters.
Unlike standard modpacks where hundreds of mods are available simultaneously, Ascension of Ages on CurseForge introduces a strict phased progression system: new technologies, magic branches, crafting recipes, and even rare ore visibility are locked until players reach the corresponding tech era.
From the Stone Age to Nuclear Fission

Players progress through an evolutionary journey starting from primitive survival, antiquity, and the Middle Ages, moving through the Renaissance and Industrial Revolution, and reaching nuclear power and futuristic space exploration.
The project’s creator completely overhauled balancing and crafting recipes, seamlessly connecting tech behemoths Create, Applied Energistics 2, and Mekanism:
- Bosses as checkpoints: Defeating key bosses is required to unlock subsequent eras, while regular mob strength and behavior dynamically scale alongside player progression;
- Hardcore survival: Early gameplay stages require managing thirst, dietary balance, physical injuries, and ambient temperature;
- Picturesque world generator: A combination of Tectonic, Terralith, and Regions Unexplored mods creates massive mountain ranges, new natural biomes, and detailed settlements.
Co-Op Play and System Requirements

The pack is optimized for co-op play. Thanks to the integration of the FTB Teams mod, key technological milestones and era unlocks sync automatically across all party members. The developer also provides ready-to-use Server Packs for quick deployment on hosting services.
Due to its massive amount of content, the modpack is demanding on hardware: to ensure smooth gameplay without micro-stutters, the developers recommend allocating 10.5–11GB of RAM to the client.
The project is built for Minecraft 1.21.1 running on the NeoForge loader. The current version 0.7.3.1 is available now for free download via the CurseForge launcher and has surpassed 13,000 downloads.
