Microsoft’s Anniversary Xbox Series X25 Could Be Brand’s Most Expensive Console Ever at $900

Microsoft is preparing to release the collectible Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. According to leaker billbil-kun, the translucent console will go on sale on November 27, 2026, for €899.99 (around $900), making it the most expensive system in the company’s current lineup.
The premium price tag comes down to its limited design; in terms of performance, the hardware is completely identical to the standard Series X.
OG Green Translucent Case and Standard Series X Specs
The anniversary model was first shown during the summer Xbox Games Showcase. The console’s look is inspired by the original 2001 system: the chassis is made of translucent plastic in an OG Green shade, the logo glows emerald when powered on, and a 25th Anniversary emblem is printed on the front panel.
According to VGC, the console’s technical specifications remain unchanged:
- 1TB SSD storage;
- Built-in optical disc drive;
- Standard Series X CPU and GPU performance.
X25 Controller and New Pricing Policy
The package includes the wireless Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, which features a transparent back case, multicolored ABXY buttons, and white bumper accents styled after the original Duke controller. The gamepad will also be sold separately starting October 20 for $79.99 or €79.99.
As noted by GameSpot, the high $900 price tag aligns with Microsoft’s recent price increases across the Xbox lineup: on August 1, the base 1TB Series X rose to $799.99 due to global price hikes for RAM and flash memory chips.
The anniversary edition is set to release on November 27, coinciding with the Black Friday sale. The X25 launch will serve as the flagship collectible event for the anniversary celebrations and is unrelated to the development of the next-generation console codenamed Project Helix.
