Hide and Moo! Launches on Steam, Requiring Players to Moo and Oink Into the Mic

Independent developer Black Sea Studios has launched Hide and Moo!, a multiplayer comedy game now available on Steam. The title offers an unconventional spin on hide-and-seek, where players disguised as livestock must imitate animal sounds live into their microphones to avoid detection by hunters.

A player’s own voice serves as the primary tool for both disguise and exposure.

Voice Cloning and Spatial Audio

At the start of a match, each disguised player records a short sound for their chosen animal into the mic: a cow’s moo, a pig’s oink, or a chicken’s cluck. The system automatically applies this recording to background NPC bots around the farm, creating the illusion of an identical-sounding herd for the hunters.

As the round progresses, hidden players must periodically repeat the sound live. If the pitch or volume of the live noise doesn’t match the original recording, a nearby hunter can pinpoint the deception using directional spatial audio.

The Role of Hunters and Herd Behavior

The hunter team plays from a first-person perspective, armed with shotguns and rifles. Because bots wander autonomously through pens, peck at grain, and interact with objects, disguised players must carefully copy animal behavior while avoiding sudden movements. Shooting indiscriminately is penalized, so hunters take damage or point deductions for hitting peaceful NPCs.

Gameplay blends Prop Hunt mechanics with psychological deduction. The title supports matches for 2 to 8 players in public or private lobbies, and a working microphone is a strict requirement.

System Requirements and Pricing

According to Black Sea Studios, the game demands very little from PC hardware: smooth frame rates require an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon R9 270X, 8GB of RAM, and just 1GB of available storage space.

Hide and Moo! released on August 25, 2026, with Russian language interface support. It features a standard price tag of $5.99, with a 20% launch discount on Steam running through September 1 that brings the price down to $4.79.
