Until Dawn 2 Launches January 28, 2027: Ties to Original Game, Plot, and New Cast

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Firesprite have set a release date for interactive horror game Until Dawn 2. The sequel to the iconic cinematic horror title launches on January 28, 2027, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Pre-orders across all digital platforms open on September 10.
The story centers on the crew of Dead True, a fake YouTube show that stages paranormal investigations. After securing a major deal with a TV network, the eight-person team travels to the abandoned Pacific island of Akishima, where an elite resort mysteriously shut down in the 1970s.
A Bridge to the Original Until Dawn
Events in the sequel tie directly back to the original game. In the newly released trailer, the vloggers explore Blackwood Sanatorium while reflecting on the tragedy from 12 years ago. There, the team meets Yuna, a young woman who survived an attack by unknown forces, and her story drives the crew to embark on a deadly expedition.
AdHoc Studio, founded by former writers of Telltale’s story-driven hits, is handling the script. As in the original, the “butterfly effect” remains the core mechanic: players can keep all eight expedition members alive, lose specific characters, or lead every single one of them to their deaths.
Actor Peter Stormare returns as psychoanalyst Dr. Hill. In a PlayStation Blog post, the publisher also revealed star additions to the cast, featuring motion capture and voice performances by Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), Sarah Catherine Hook, Gia Kim, Spence Moore II, and Camila Senna.

PS5 Features
According to the game’s product page on the official PlayStation website, the title is built specifically to leverage current-gen console hardware, supporting 4K resolution, Tempest 3D Audio, and enhanced DualSense haptic feedback. The publisher has not yet announced a PC release.
Alongside the standard edition, players can purchase a Digital Deluxe Edition featuring bonus outfit packs and a dedicated Diorama of Death mode, which allows users to view unlocked character death sequences separately.
