Original PlayStation Recreated in LEGO: 1:1 Scale, Working Buttons and Hidden Dioramas from Iconic Games

LEGO and Sony Interactive Entertainment have unveiled their first joint set, a detailed recreation of the original 1994 PlayStation console. The collector’s set, number 72306, contains 1,911 pieces and reproduces the famous Japanese game system and its classic wired gamepad at nearly 1:1 scale.
Pressable buttons and hidden scenes from classics
The assembled shell is 26 centimeters wide, almost exactly matching the dimensions of the original Japanese device. The engineers kept the mechanical interactivity: the included controller physically plugs into the front port, the Power and Open buttons press with a characteristic click, and the disc drive’s top lid opens to reveal the internals.
The main Easter egg is hidden inside the shell. According to LEGO’s official press release, two miniature dioramas inspired by iconic hits of the era are hidden under the removable panels:
- A Gran Turismo racing simulator with a section of track and microscopic sports cars;
- The Ape Escape platformer with a patch of jungle and a figure of an escaped monkey whose signal helmet changes color.
Both dioramas can be carefully removed from the console shell and displayed alongside it as standalone desk souvenirs.

Release timing and price
As PlayStation.Blog notes, the model was developed as part of the adult collector line (rated 18+) and will join the previously released brick versions of the NES, Pac-Man and Atari 2600 consoles.
The recommended price of the LEGO PlayStation set will be $179.99. LEGO Insiders members and shoppers at the official PlayStation Direct store will get access to the new set on October 1, 2026, while it will arrive in broad retail and general sale on October 4.
