CS2 Majors Return to Asia: Perfect World to Host Second 2027 World Championship in China

Chinese operator and publisher Perfect World has officially confirmed that China will host the second Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2027. This will mark the country’s second top-tier world championship following the Perfect World Shanghai Major in late 2024.

Shanghai Insides and Tournament Dates

The official confirmation appeared on the company’s regional news channels, though organizers have not yet publicly named the specific host city.

However, the location choice will hardly surprise fans: according to industry sources cited by HLTV.org, Valve has provisionally approved Shanghai. Under the tournament operator’s schedule, the competition will take place during a fixed winter window from November 22 to December 12, 2027.

Returning to the venue makes sense for Perfect World: the 2024 tournament was the series’ first-ever Major on the Asian continent, earning high praise from players for its logistics and taking home “Event of the Year” at the annual HLTV Awards.

Season Map: South America and Asia

Valve’s decision finalizes an unusual lineup for the 2027 Major schedule. The developer is completely bypassing traditional European locations in favor of new markets:

  • First Major of the season (May 31 – June 20, 2027): hosted by FiReSPORTS in Buenos Aires, Argentina, marking South America’s first-ever Major;
  • Second Major of the season (November 22 – December 12, 2027): hosted by Perfect World in China to close out the competitive year.

Organizers will share venue capacity, ticket prices, and regional RMR qualification schedules at a later date. Returning to China highlights the growing commercial appeal of the Asian market for Valve, where competitive Counter-Strike 2 consistently sells out multi-thousand-seat arenas.
