192GB of Rockstar Files Leak Online, Including Canceled Liberty City for GTA V and Early GTA VI Prototypes

A 192GB trove of data containing Rockstar Games’ internal work has been released publicly, including source code, development tools, test builds and a large amount of cut content. Although the files only became available to the general public now, experts at Insider Gaming agree that this is not a new attack on the company but another leak of data obtained in a large-scale hack in 2022.
The Liberty City we lost
The bulk of the archive is devoted to Grand Theft Auto V. Dataminers found files related to the LibertyV project, a large-scale expansion that was supposed to add Liberty City to the fifth game.
An analysis of the file dlcliberty_game.dat151.rel made it possible to reconstruct an approximate outline of the location. Judging by the data, Rockstar planned to create a far more detailed and expansive version of Liberty City than the one featured in the fourth game. The current leak, however, does not prove that this work will be used in GTA VI: for now it is merely archival evidence of plans from a decade ago.
Agent Trevor and other unrealized ideas
The leak shed light on details of the canceled story DLC Agent Trevor. Actor Steven Ogg, who played Trevor, previously said the character was supposed to take on the role of a secret agent in the style of James Bond. The archived files confirmed how serious the developers’ intentions were: they contained mission scripts involving the CIA, storylines in Russia and Korea, and space-themed assets, including spacesuits and models of a spacecraft.
According to former Rockstar employee Joseph Rubino, the expansion was about 50% complete, but after the staggering commercial success of GTA Online, company management decided to wind down production of single-player content in favor of developing the multiplayer mode.
An early look at GTA VI
There was little material on Grand Theft Auto VI itself in the archive. Dataminers found only fragments of early low-poly models and pieces of the map dated 2020–2022. These files date back to the very beginning of development and give no idea of what the game, set for release on November 19, 2026, currently looks like.
Rockstar Games has not yet commented officially on the publication of the archive. It is worth keeping in mind that the company confirmed a server breach back in 2022, so the data in the archive mostly reflects the workflows of past years rather than the current state of the studio’s upcoming releases.
